April 26, 2012 — The “500 Festival Mini-Marathon” will be held on Saturday, May 5th. Set-up for the race will affect traffic on New York Street Friday evening and the Saturday event will greatly affect both traffic and parking on-campus.

On Thursday, Jan. 19, Downtown street closures related to Super Bowl XLVI will begin. Capitol Avenue will be closed to traffic between Maryland and South streets Jan. 19 - Feb. 10. In addition, lane restrictions will be in place on Capitol Avenue between Ohio and Maryland streets to funnel traffic to Washington and Maryland streets. Access will be maintained to:
• Plaza Park Garage via Maryland Street and Capitol Avenue
• Crowne Plaza Hotel via South Street and Capitol Avenue
• Pan Am Plaza Garage via South and Illinois streets
The closure of Capitol Avenue also impacts the west block of Georgia Street. Georgia Street will be closed to traffic between Illinois Street and Capitol Avenue Jan. 19 - Feb. 10. Georgia Street will be closed to eastbound traffic between Meridian and Illinois streets beginning Jan. 21 and between Pennsylvania and Meridian streets beginning Jan. 23. Access will be maintained for westbound traffic between Pennsylvania and Illinois streets until Jan. 27.
Lane restrictions are already in place on South Street between Capitol Avenue and Missouri Street. This portion of South Street will be closed to traffic Jan. 22 - Feb 13.

Traffic Alert
On Saturday, Nov. 5, the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K willstart and finish Downtown. The races start on Washington Street near Missouri Street at8 a.m. with setup beginning at 6 a.m. The route goes near Lucas Oil Stadium, around Monument Circle and continues north to 66th Street before returning Downtown on Meridian Street to finish at the Statehouse. Up to 8,000 runners and wheelchair athletes are expected to participate.
It will not be possible for vehicles to cross the route while runners are on the street in the area. All traffic should avoid the race course area during the times noted. West Street will remain open for both northbound and southbound traffic throughout the event. Metered parking along the route will be restricted.
Downtown streets along the route in the area south of Market Street will be closed or restricted approximately 8 - 9 a.m. due to this event. Athletes should clear the area and all streets will be open to traffic south of Market Street in the SouthWest and SouthEast quadrants by 9 a.m. Streets in the NorthEast quadrant of Downtown will be clear of athletes by 9:30 a.m.
Downtown streets on the route in the NorthWest Quadrant will be closed or restricted approximately 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. due to this event. The event will end by 2:30 p.m. with all streets open by 3 p.m.
